We had our first rain this morning but it did not dampen our spirits as we set out to explore Cahir castle. For those of you who have read the whole BLOG, you may remember a Pre-trip post about Sam's social studies project in which he built a model of a castle - this castle!
This is a Sider Family favorite. The castle buildings are intact enough to house exhibits and the parapets can be climbed. If you look closely at the photos you can just make out the kids on top of the castle wall.
In another photo you can see three of us standing inside a fireplace. There is even access to the dungeon. This castle also has the only working portcullis in Ireland. Lily was afraid to walk under it.
