Kinsale

We visited the town of Kinsale on Monday, a cute little port town on the southern shores of the country. We explored Charles Fort, an old star-shaped fort located at the entrance to the harbor. The star shape always allowed two walls to face any attacker, and the cannons would put enemy ships to the bottom. We liked it because it gave the kids the opportunity to run and climb and play hide-and-seek.

Afterwards, shopping and lunch in the pub in Kinsale. We had read in a guidebook that a restaurant called Fishy Fishy served bacon-wrapped shrimp and Sam had been looking forward to that all trip. Sadly, the fishermen hadn't brought prawns in that morning, so we were out of luck.

On the plus side, Sam finally found both the drum and the pocket watch he'd been looking for, and Lily found a nice claddagh ring.

Also, a turning point: Rob has finally reached his limit of fish and chips.
